Pathological laboratory services

Keywords: pharmacological efficacy study, microvessels, vascular inflammation

Pharmacological effects of drugs and other vasoactive compounds on isolated small blood vessels can be investigated in vascular biology and microcirculation laboratory studies.

The services are related to the following research areas:

Role of the endothelium in the regulation of microvascular resistance; endothelial dysfunction and heart failure
Microvascular oxidative stress and vascular inflammation in cardiovascular disease
Abnormalities of the coronary and cerebral circulation in pathological acute conditions and chronic diseases, e.g. hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity
Cardiac and microvascular effects of physical exercise
Available infrastructure:

Multiwire myograph ( instrument for in vito examination of isolated blood vessels (vascular rings)
Pressure-flow myograph (instrument for in vitro examination of isolated blood vessels (vascular rings)
PowerLab (data acquisition system for recording and analysing physiological signals from experimental animals and isolated organs)
Video microscope
Hemodynamic instruments
