The MFA stands for "Multi-Factor Authentication”. This is a security measure that involves a multi-step authentication process. For example, when using a website or service, MFA requires the user to provide not just a password but also a secondary identification factor, such as a code received via SMS or a unique code generated by an application.
MFA enhances online security as it protects the account even if unauthorized persons obtain the password.
More information about MFA: What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
To set up MFA, log in to Microsoft 365 with your PTE username and password, then navigate to the Security Info page.

Further information on setting up and using Microsoft Authenticator can be found here: How to use Microsoft Authenticator.
To avoid accidentally locking yourself out of your account, we recommend adding multiple authentication methods to your profile! (authenticator app + phone number)
What should I do if I can't access the device used for multi-factor authentication?
If you cannot access your device set up for multi-factor authentication, such as if you lost your mobile phone and can’t log in to Microsoft 365, please contact the SD staff. They will provide you with a one-time login code. Once you have successfully logged in to your Microsoft 365 account, navigate to the Security Info page. Here, you can delete existing authentication methods and add your new authentication device.
What should I do if I change phones?
When you get a new mobile device, before deleting your previous device's settings, log in to your Microsoft 365 account, navigate to the Security Info page, and add your new authentication device.
It is important to know that Microsoft 365 and Neptun MFA are two independent systems. More information about Neptun MFA: Neptun two-factor authentication.
